Workers replace radio antenna
A crew from Radio Tow-
er Co. of Portland replaced
an FM antenna on the 400-
foot tall KOHU-KQFM ra-
dio tower last week.
Hermiston’s radio sta-
tion The Q FM has moved
to a new frequency.
The station has changed
from 100.1 FM to 93.7 FM
after work was completed,
due to a frequency reassign-
ment by the Federal Com-
munications Commission.
The AM station, KOHU
1360AM, did not change
but was brieÀ y off the air
for a while when work on
the tower began.
The 100.1 FM frequen-
cy was taken over by a
new radio station out of the
Tri-Cities, KQFO, which
will be known as 100.1 The
Oasis. The new Tri-Cities
station is owned by Alexan-
dra Communication based
in Walla Walla. It plays
what it calls adult alterna-
tive album music from art-
ist like Coldplay, Adele and
the Dave Matthews Band.
To promote its new fre-
quency, The Q is sponsoring
a cash giveaway of $937. To
enter listeners need to send
the new frequency, 93.7
FM, and their name and
phone number to The Q by
Facebook (KOHU KQFM),
email (kqfm@eotnet.net),
fax (541-567-6068), mail
(PO Box 145 Hermiston) or
in person (80404 Cooney
Lane in Hermiston).
KQFM, The Q plays
adult contemporary music,
while KOHU plays classic
county, local and agricul-
ture news and local sports.
KOHU and KQFM are
owned by Westend Radio
LLC.
