Richter Darrell LaVern ‘Vern’ Marlow Pendleton Bend July 14, 1935-December 6, 2015 Hermiston January 2, 1932-December 10, 2015 April 17, 1918-December 10, 2015 Anna Katherine Berger Gisinger was called home on December 10, 2015, at the age of 97, at St. Antho- ny Hospital surrounded by family members. Anna was the 11th of 12 children born to George D. Berger and Magdalena Dilger Berger on April 17, 1918, on a farm near Fallon, North Dakota. In 1936 she moved with her parents and younger brother to Mandan, North Dakota. She was em- ployed at a sewing room in Mandan for 3 years. In 1939 she married the love of her life, John Gising- er Jr., at St. Joseph’s Cath- olic Church at Mandan. She and John made their home in Bismarck, North Da- kota, following their wed- ding. In 1941 they moved to Hermiston, Ore., where John worked at the Uma- tilla Army Depot. During the Korean War Anna also worked at the Depot for 3 years. Following John’s sud- den death on May 29, 1960, Anna worked at the local 25 Àavor ice cream store for 4 years. In 1966 during the Vietnam War she returned to work at the Army Depot for 4 years. Anna’s hobbies includ- ed sewing, crocheting and doing crafts. She also en- joyed playing pinochle. Her family and friends were blessed with many beautiful crocheted and sewn items, which were made with much love. Over the years she traveled the world see- ing things many people can only imagine. Anna was a devout Cath- olic and is a member of the Catholic Daughters of America in Hermiston. She was also a member of the Eagles Lodge in Hermiston. Anna’s greatest ac- complishment in life was her family which includes daughters Deloris Gising- er and Shirley Hall along with her son-in-law Edward Hall. Also surviving Anna are her four grandchildren, Melvalee Carter, John Hall, Lisa Blagg and Kevin Hall, eight great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grand- children, and her brother Dominik Berger. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband John, six brothers and four sisters. Mom, granny, great-gran- ny and great-great-granny will be missed terribly by all who knew her. She was a loving woman who taught us all to love unconditional- ly. Recitation of the Rosary will be held Thursday, De- cember 17, at 7:00 p.m. at Burns Mortuary of Pendle- ton chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, December 18, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pendleton, with a luncheon to follow in the parish hall. Following the luncheon, burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Hermis- ton Cemetery. Richter, 80, passed away in Bend, Oregon, on December 6, 2015. He was born in Garibaldi, Oregon, on July 14, 1935, to Mathias and Mar- garet Richter. Lew graduated from North Marion High School in 1954 and was voted “Most Richter Valuable Football Player” in his junior and senior years. He served in the United States Air Force from 1954-1957 and was stationed in England, Libya and North Africa. Lew worked as a mill- wright/carpenter and boiler operator from 1959-1966 at Pilot Rock Lumber Com- pany. From there he was employed at Pendleton Fire Department from 1967- 1992 as a ¿re¿ghter/EMT, and was one of the ¿rst EMT-3s in Umatilla Coun- ty and Àew on the Life- guard III helicopter. Hobbies were honey bees, racing pigeons and coaching Little League baseball in Pendleton for 9 years. He loved being in the outdoors with family, ¿shing, hunting and mush- rooming. He spent hours in his garden and his yard. Lew was a past member of the Elks, Eagles, Knights of Columbus and VFW in Pendleton and Union. He was a member of the Cath- olic church and served as a Eucharistic minister in Pendleton and in Union. Lew volunteered delivering Meals On Wheels and at the La Grande Senior Center. Survivors are: sons Joe (Kris- ti) Richter of Bend and Nick (Chris) Richter of Meridi- an, Idaho; stepson Jim Tindol of Boston, Mass.; stepdaughters Shan- non (Ben) Peal of Weston, Oregon, and Dawn (Pat) Segger- man of Island City, Oregon; daugh- ter-in-law Tam- my Richter of Pendleton; grandchildren James, Jen- na, Amy, Zachary, Isaac, Maddie, Sydney and Blane; great-grandchildren Mad- eleine, Jameson and Lili- ana; brother Ken Richter of Union; twin sister Lorraine Gianella of Woodburn, and sisters Dorothy Koebel of Donald and Mary Erb of Woodburn; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his wife of 26 years, Carolyn Richter; son Matt Richter; “his little angel” Molly; grandson Hunter Seggerman; brother Allen Richter; brother-in-law George Koebel; nephew Kenny Richter Jr.; and par- ents Mathias and Margaret Richter. A private viewing and rosary were held De- cember 10, 2015, at Nis- wonger-Reynolds of Bend. A graveside service in Cove, Oregon, will be held in the spring of 2016. He went home to be with the Lord on December 10, 2015, at home in Hermiston, Oregon, surrounded Marlow by his family at the age of 83 years. Vern was raised in Pend- leton, Oregon, for a short time and then in Irrigon, Oregon, where he graduated from high school in 1950. He then attended Lin¿eld College for a year before he joined the United States Navy. Vern was united in marriage to Elathine “Ella” Parke on October 24, 1951, in Hermiston, Oregon. He served during the Kore- an conÀict in Guam and throughout the South Pacif- ic on an aircraft carrier from 1952 until his honorable dis- charge in 1956. They lived in Seattle, Washington, where Vern worked for Boeing as a parts inspector until 1974. They then moved to Umatilla, Oregon, where Vern and his brother John started KLWJ Christian radio station. They returned to Seattle, Washing- ton, in 1989. Vern worked for Boeing for a few years and then for TRAMCO until re- tiring. Vern and Ella moved to Hermiston, Oregon, in 2010 where they have lived since. Ernest Henry Tucker Hermiston August 26, 1920-December 8, 2015 Ernest Henry Tuck- er was born August 26, 1920, in Seminole, Oklahoma, to Noel Er- nest Tucker and Sar- ah “Mittie” Taylor Tucker, and passed away at his home in Hermiston on De- cember 8, 2015. Mr. Tucker worked for the Ci- Tucker vilian Conservation Corps as a young man then joined the U.S. Army Air Corps after high school. He served as a technical ser- geant with an Eighth Air Force bomber sTuadron, Ày- ing missions over Germany. He married Margaret Louise Jennings on May 1, 1943, in Douglas, Arizona. The couple had three chil- dren: Lynda Louise, Lucin- da Anne, and Richard Er- nest. The couple made their home in several places around the world while Mr. Tucker worked as a tele- communications engineer, including contract work in Vietnam and Laos during the Vietnam War. •Asset Systems Inc. vs. Taii R.
