Moyer, long-

ton, Oregon,
resident,
was born on
February 2,
1938, in Em-
mett, Idaho, to parents
Clyde R. and Maxine
E. Brinson Moyer. He
died on November 10,
2015, at his home in
Hermiston, Oregon, at
the age of 77 years.
When
Doug Moyer
was little his family
moved to Hermiston, Or-
egon, where he was raised
and attended school. He then
joined the United States Air
Force and served from 1955
until his honorable discharge
in 1959. Doug was united in
marriage to Judith A. Von-
dy on November 2, 1958, in
Hermiston, Oregon. They
lived in Boise, Idaho, for
a time before returning to
Hermiston, Oregon, in 1967
where they raised their family
and worked.
Doug worked at the Wag-
on Yard, Northwest Motor
Home, and later at the Uma-
tilla County Fairgrounds be-
fore retiring. After retirement
Doug was able to ful¿ll his
lifelong dream of living in
the mountains. They lived at
Blake Ranch outside of Hep-
pner for several years and
Doug was able to work cattle
drives and enjoy the outdoors.
They then returned to Herm-
iston where they have lived
for the past several years.
He enjoyed the moun-
tains, hunting, ¿shing, and
for many years showed and
promoted Appaloosa horses.
In 1976 Doug was awarded
the Supreme Champion Me-
dallion for his performance in
the show ring with his Appa-
loosa, Scouts Red Eagle. This
was only the third
time the award
had been pre-
sented. Doug
was always a
frog in a skil-
let, never one
to sit still, and
enjoyed all life had to
offer.

He is survived by
his wife of 57 years,
Judy Moyer, Hermiston,
Ore.; daughter Di Fordice
and husband Bob, Hermis-

Roy Moyer and wife Vicky,
Milton-Freewater, Ore.; sis-
ter Loretta Dyer and husband
Jerry, Hermiston, Ore.; grand-
children Dusty and ¿ancee
Ashleigh, Tyler, James, and
Lauren and husband Blake;
and great-grandchildren Ha-
leigh, Coleman and Benja-
min.
Doug was preceded in
death by his parents, a sister,
Shari Schneider, and a broth-
er, Frank Moyer.
A celebration of life gath-
ering with military honors
will be held on Saturday,
December 5, 2015, at 1:00
p.m. at the Hermiston Senior
Center, 435 W. Orchard Ave.,
Hermiston, Oregon.

Deloris Ann Rueber, 63,
of Hermiston died Novem-
ber 26, 2015, at her home. A
Celebration of Life service
will be held at 10:00 a.m.
on Saturday, Decem-
ber 5, 2015, at Pend-
leton Pioneer Chap-
el, Folsom-Bishop.
Interment will fol-
low the service at
Olney Cemetery in
Pendleton.
Deloris was born Rueber
on May 3, 1952, in
Pendleton to Carba and
Alba (Huckabee) Sisk. In
1971, she graduated from
Pendleton High School.
She received an associate’s
degree from Blue Mountain
Community College and
also from Mt. Hood Com-
munity College in Gresh-
am.
She met Larry Rueber
when she was 10 years
old and they attended ju-
nior high and high school
together. They started dat-
ing in 1975 and they were
married a year later on May
15, 1976, at Peace Lutheran
Church in Pendleton, where
they both attended church.
For her ¿rst 20 years of
marriage, she said her most
enjoyable thing was watch-
ing Larry work. After she
started attending yard sales
with her friend Linda Stor-
ment, that became her en-
joyment. Larry must have
slowed down.
She worked for Good
Shepherd
Hospital
in
Hermiston for many years.
She enjoyed bowling, gar-
dening and going to yard
Norman Lee Place
sales. She also liked to
travel. In 1999, they visit-
ed Germany, Austria, Italy,
Switzerland, France and
Belgium. They also visited
the Little Big Horn,
Mount
Rushmore
and many other plac-
es around the U.S.
She was a mem-
ber of the Lutheran
Church and Beta
Sigma Phi Sorority.
She cherished her
friends, her sisters in
sorority and her good friend
Mary Earlley. She always
looked on the bright side of
things and, as Larry would
say, “I was blessed to call
her my wife.”
She is survived by her
husband Larry Rueber of
Hermiston; daughter Jen-
nifer Rueber of Hermiston;
grandson Jaeger Rueber;
brother Ed Sisk; sister Car-
ol Newton; and many niec-
es and nephews. She was
preceded in death by her
parents; son Kenny Rueber;
twin brother Duane Sisk;
and nephew Matthew Sisk.
The family would like to

Mrs. Gabriel was
born May 22, 1934,
in Seattle, Wash- Gabriel
ington, to William
George and Florence Mir-
iam (Stewart) Hedgecock.
She was raised in San
Francisco, where her fa-
ther owned a frame shop.
She attended Willamette
University in Salem, Ore.
On February 11, 1956, she
married Morrow Kendal
Gabriel in San Mateo, Ca-
lif. The Gabriels left Cal-
ifornia for his home state
of Oregon in 1968, and
settled in Monitor in 1970.
They were married 26 years
when Ken died on July 19,
1982.
Mrs. Gabriel studied
home economics at Willa-
mette University. She re-
tired from her secretarial/
librarian career at Monitor
Grade School in 1999. At
her retirement the school li-
brary was of¿cially named
The Helen Gabriel Library
to honor all that she did to
promote literacy.
She has been an active
member of the Monitor Bi-
ble Church since 1970, do-
ing the bookkeeping, prepar-
ing communion, the Sunday
bulletin, and her favorite,
Vacation Bible School. Hel-
en dedicated many hours at
the Oregon Gardens in Sil-
verton at its inception, thus
being named the ¿rst year
as Volunteer of the Year. She
also was the bookkeeper/sec-
retary for the Monitor Rural
Fire District from 1994 to the
present.
Helen loved to bake
most anything, and for
many years baking and
decorating wedding cakes,
birthday cakes, graduation
cakes and any other special
occasion. As if that weren’t
enough, she loved to quilt,
and did so proli¿cally All
of her children, grandchil-
dren and great-grandchil-
dren have one of her quilts,
as well as many babies in
the neonatal unit at OHSU.
Another of her loves
was adventure She
made numerous trips
to Alaska where son
Bud has a cabin on
the Kenai River. She
was always ready for
taking off on the riv-
er or the sea to catch
salmon or halibut,
then enjoying the fruits
of their labors for dinner.
She and best friend Shirley
made seven trips to Alaska
doing what they loved to do
— seeing what’s around the
next bend in the road The
duo also traversed every
back road in Oregon, and
spent many summer days
in Sisters at a family cabin
there.

Craig Jay Carney, a life-
long Hermiston, Oregon,
resident, was born on Feb-
ruary 1, 1960, in Herm-
iston, Oregon, to parents
Jay Ben Carney and
Doris Lee Peckham
Carney. He died on
November 25, 2015,
in Hermiston, Ore-
gon, at the age of 55
years.
Craig was raised
in Hermiston, Ore- Carney
gon, where he en-
joyed playing baseball in
his younger years, playing
tennis in junior high and
high school, and was a de-
voted KISS groupie. He
graduated from Hermiston
High School in the class of
1978. Craig went to work at
Marlette Homes right after
graduation where he has
continued to work for the
last 37 years.
He married Diane Davis
and they had 3 children, Ja-
son, Sarah, and Bret. They
later divorced, although re-
maining close and enjoying
family gatherings and go-
ing to concerts together. He
was an avid Dallas Cowboy
fan from an early age, re-
maining loyal through thick
and thin. Craig cherished
time with his family, espe-
cially his grandchildren. He
enjoyed riding his bicycle
to and from work and all
over town.
He is survived by his
