FAIR:
continued from Page A1
Kids can try their hand at
riding a sheep south of the
beef barn at 2:30, 4:30 and
6:30 p.m. each day. Adults can
even try to ride a mechanical
bull.
Micro Reality Racing al-
lows people to get behind the
wheel — though not actually
in the small cars — to race
their friends around a track.
Kids can practice À ipping in
the air using trampolines and
bungee harnesses or try to
maneuver inside giant plastic
balls in a pool.
Of course, there are jugglers
and magicians throughout the
day, and each night features a
musical performance at 9 p.m.
John Michael Montgomery
will take the stage Wednesday.
Latin night will feature Antifaz
at 7 p.m. Thursday, followed
by Mar-K-De Tierra Caliente
at 9 p.m. Ages Apart will get
things started at 8 p.m. Friday,
followed by Hinder at 9 p.m.
Blue Tattoo will begin at 7:30
p.m. Saturday, followed by
Warrant at 9 p.m.
The Exhibits
Janice Patterson, Irrigon,
said she enjoys looking at
all of the different exhibits
on display at the fair.
From quilting to photog-
raphy, there are a variety
of competitive categories
judged for the fair. Busi-
nesses and other organiza-
tions also have booths set
up offering information and
products.
Umatilla School Dis-
trict was giving away free
books to children Tuesday.
Through the Children’s
Reading Foundation READ
Up literacy program, the
district has books for chil-
dren in third grade or
younger.
The exhibition halls also
provide a nice respite from
the heat.
The Rodeo
Although fair admission
does not grant access to the
Farm-City Pro Rodeo, admis-
sion to the fair is free with a
rodeo ticket.
Seriously, you can’t beat
that.
