BY SAM BARBEE HERMISTON HERALD The Hermiston Gun Club took home numerous titles at the Oregon State Amateur Trapshooting As- sociation (OSATA) Cham- pionships May 29-31 at the La Grande Gun Club. Led by John Adams, Hermiston shooters won 21 titles at the event, with Adams, Devon Brittner and Case Hiatt taking KRPH ¿YH HDFK .DGHQ Smith winning four times, and a title apiece for Blake Betz, Steve Sherrell and Terrell Platt. 2Q WKH ¿UVW GD\ RI WKH tournament, Brittner was the junior runner-up in the Class Singles Champion- ship. He broke 86 of 100 WDUJHWV WR ¿QLVK VHFRQG Case Hiatt, with 88 of 100, took the sub-junior WLWOH DQG .DGHQ 6PLWK ZLWK ¿QLVKHG VHFRQG Hiatt won the President’s Handicap event, breaking 95 of 100 targets. Sher- rell took the title in the 22-24.5 yard division with 92 breaks. Brittner, with 90, took the junior title, Smith, with 91, took the sub-junior championship, besting Betz by seven tar- gets. $GDPVWRRNKLV¿UVWWL- tle of the weekend in event No. 3, breaking 96 of 100 targets in the Class AA Doubles Championship. Brittner, with 72, was the junior champ, Hiatt, with 94, was the sub-junior champion, and Smith was SOFTBALL: RODEO: eight. Gonzales walked in the fourth and scored on a Lemmon single for a brief 9-8 lead, but an RBI single in the home fourth and an error put the Grizzlies ahead 10-9. Due to an hour-and-a-half WLPH OLPLW WKH ¿IWK LQQLQJ could not be started and the game was called 10-9 after four innings. Garza was 2 for 2 with three RBIs and a run scored. Lemmon was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and a run, and Gonzalez had two hits, as well. Gonzales again strug- gled against McMinnville, but not to level of her game against Forest Grove. She went 2 1/3 innings, al- lowed six runs — three earned — on four hits while walking three and striking out two. Plant (95/100) beat Brittner (85) in the junior division, and Hiatt (96) slipped past Smith (94) for the sub-ju- nior title. Adams broke 96 tar- gets in the OSATA Dou- bles Championship to win, and Brittner broke 86 to take the junior title, beat Platt by four targets. Smith broke 94 to take the sub-junior title, and Betz was Smith’s runner-up with 87. Platt broke 80 targets and was the runner-up, Smith broke 89 and was the sub-junior champion.
