Registration is $17 if registered by Monday,
June 29 and includes a t-shirt.
It’s $20 the day of the event, and you may not
be able to get a t-shirt, so register early!

IT’S PARADE TIME!
You’re invited to build a float, organize a
band, dig out your best costumes,
and join the biggest little parade for a
grand ole’ 4th of July Celebration!
Parade assembly begins at
10 a.m. on NE Front Street.
Entries must be in place by 10:30, with the
parade officially beginning at 11 a.m.!
Please contact the Chamber to complete a
Parade Entry Form no later than Friday, June 26.

If you cannot attend the meetings, but want to
help before, during, or after the event with the
parade, fun run, vendors, kids’ games, etc.

take lots of volunteer effort to be successful!

If there’s one thing in life you can count on, it’s
change! Some changes are good, others are hard
to bear. This time of the year we often celebrate
what most people consider to be good changes in
life. Graduations are taking place all over the
country from mid-May to the end of June. High
school and college graduations bring the biggest
changes, but even graduations from kindergarten
or junior high can be emotional times, especially
for parents and other family members!
It’s also the time of year for lots of weddings!
Many people get married in May and June, often
times just following a graduation from college!
And for many families, it’s moving time! Most
employers will work with their employees to move
them during the summer so that children don’t
have to miss school during the transition from one
location to another. Some are just moving in the
area, maybe moving from a rental house to a
home they are buying. Others may be moving
long distances to accept a new position or a new
job. Then there are other changes we celebrate in
life, like the birth of a new baby!
Interestingly enough, while most of these
changes are times of joy, happiness, and
celebration, they can also be times of stress,
anxiety, fear, even regret. What new parent isn’t a
little overwhelmed when they look at their first
newborn and realize the awesome responsibility
they now bear to love, protect, guide, and raise
that baby to adulthood!
And most high school graduates don’t realize
yet that life is never quite going to be the same!
They are happy to be out of high school, officially
an adult by most people’s standards, but it’s
scary, too, as they ponder what the rest of their
lives will be like and where the future will take
them. For some of them there may be a bit of
regret that they didn’t pay more attention in
classes like math and English!
College grads can really feel overwhelmed,
knowing that they may have accumulated a lot of
debt to complete their degree and concerned
about whether they can find a good job or not!
And what person hasn’t had a whirlwind of
emotions as they stand at the altar, getting ready
to say “I do” for the rest of their lives?
There are other changes that can be very
difficult for us to accept – the loss of a job, a
loved one, even the loss of a longtime pet can be
hard to handle!
Sometimes, older folks talk about longing for
the “good ole days” when things didn’t seem to
change as much as they do today. But the fact of
the matter is change has to happen, and this is
true for organizations and communities as well as
for people. Organizations and communities either
grow or contract – they can’t stay the same.
Change has to happen to take us to the next level.
So, be positive and encouraging around those
you love everyday so there are no regrets if you
lose them tomorrow! Be proactive and get
involved in your community! Volunteer and help
lead the change in the organizations you are
involved in and that impact your life! If we all
work together for good change, the sky is the limit
– whether you are talking about people,
communities, or organizations!
