Hermiston celebrates
induction of new honor
society members
Twenty-three students from Hermis-
ton High School were inducted as new
members of the National Honor Society
in a ceremony at the school Tuesday
evening. Members were selected by the
chapter’s faculty council for meeting
high standards of scholarship, service,
leadership and character.
The students inducted were: Jujuan
Aguayo, Salma Anguiano, Taylor Betz,
Beau Blake, Jasmin Chen, Robert Cole-
man, Elina Cross, Frederick Gonzalez,
Magdalena Ibarra, Shasta Jundt, Dallas
Kile, Brady Linnell, Makayla Loper,
Ashley Love, Emily Marvin, Lindsey
McAllister, Maria Meza, Reed Middle-
ton, Kody Moss, Alexis Myers, Tanna
Osmin, Wyatt Paschal, Jessie Pollard,
Trystin Seavert and Hannah Walker.
“We are very proud to recognize
these outstanding members of our stu-
dent body,” chapter adviser Chris Demi-
anew said in a press release. “National
Honor Society members are chosen for
and then expected to continue their ex-
emplary contributions to the school and
community.”
The HHS chapter has been active
since 1949. Each year the chapter spon-
sors several service projects for the
school and community.
The National Honor Society ranks as
one of the oldest and most prestigious
national organizations for high school
students. There are chapters in more
than 16,000 high schools, and, since
1921, millions of students have been se-
lected for membership. Millions of dol-
lars in scholarships have been awarded
to senior members since 1945 by the
sponsoring organization, National Asso-
ciation of Secondary School Principals.
Morris named to Dean’s List
Nicole Morris, Hermiston, was named
to the spring 2015 Dean’s List at Brescia
University, Owensboro, Kentucky, for
completing 12 credit hours with a 3.5
GPA. Morris is a senior studying social
work.
