Herald changing TV listings,
comic and puzzle offerings
Hermiston Herald sub-
scribers will see some
changes to our television
schedule and comics offer-
ings beginning in today’s
edition of the newspaper.
In December, the Herm-
iston Herald polled readers
about their comics and puz-
zle preferences, and those
surveyed helped determine
the Features Page content,
including new puzzles and
comic additions. Beginning
today, the Hermiston Her-
ald is offering a page and
a half of Features. A few
comics previously offered
have been replaced by new
ones that scored highly by
readers who returned our
survey. We are also offering
more puzzles, including a
PD]HZRUG¿QGDQGDQRWK-
er, easy, crossword puzzle.
Some comics, including
Amber Waves, remain, but
they are now being print-
ed in color, not black and
white, to increase the visual
appeal of the page.
The Hermiston Herald is
also offering a full page of
television schedules for our
readers. This is in lieu of the
TV Time insert, which we
are no longer publishing.
The decision to discontin-
ue TV Time does not come
easily. For several years, we
have not had enough sup-
port from our advertisers to
cover the costs of produc-
ing TV Time. Advertisers
recognize that TV viewers
now use the on-screen TV
listings provided by the ca-
ble company, rather than
newspaper listings, and
are not willing to advertise
on pages that few readers
will see. Because we know
some of our customers do
depend on TV listings in
the newspaper, we will
continue to print abbreviat-
ed listings in the paper each
week. They will run in Sat-
urday’s Hermiston Herald
on their own page and will
show listings for evening
SURJUDPPLQJ IURP SP
through 10:30 p.m. for the
coming week.
We realize this is a big
change for readers to be-
come accustomed to, and
we invite customers to
contact us for more infor-
mation or to share their
thoughts on both the TV
listings offered and the ad-
ditional comics and puz-
zle features. Contact us at

Pet of the week
Hi, my name is Daisy. I am one of two
female and two male kittens available for
adoption at the Humane Society of Eastern
Oregon Pet Rescue in Hermiston.
My mother came to Pet Rescue preg-
nant, and, up until a week ago, I was raised
by a foster family. I need a new home.
I’ve already had my shots, I am litter-box
trained, and I am good with children. I am
about 8 weeks old and can be adopted for
$30. I come with a free vet check and a
three-day return policy. If I or my brothers

owner will receive a $20 refund.
If you are interested in welcoming Dai-
sy to your family, please stop by the hu-
mane society at 1844 N.W. Geer Road,
