Miss Brown is a student at the
college and Sgt. Clarke has been
an instructor with the Marine De­
tachment at Clarksville. Ark., but
February 1 was transferred to
Dearborn. Mich. No announce­
ment has been made for the wed­

HAROLD H. NEILL
IS HONORED
Included
among
eighty-five
members of the crew of a U. S. air­
craft carrier in the Pacific who
have ben awarded letters of com­
mendation by their commanding
officer in recognition of their meri­
torious service and devotion to du­
ty is Harold H. Neill, Aviation
Ordnanceman second class, 24. son
of Mr and Mrs. W. D. Neill of Ec­
ho, Oregon. Neill attended Her­
miston high school. He enlisted in
the Navy on May 14, 1942, and re­
ceived training at San Diego, Cal.
He has served 16 months on a car­
rier.
From March to November, 1944,
the ship to which he is attached
has been in continuous combat op­
erations against the enemy. It par­
ticipated in all the major carrier
strikes and engagements of this
period. The men commended were
selected by their division officers
for this special recognition because
of their zeal, loyalty and com­
mendable performance of duty un­
der most difficult and hazardous
conditions.
