Now it is graveyard when only spooks
and guards roam about.
Charlie, the checker, goes out to check,
the Yardmaster also goes out.
At one of the nine desks sits Anna,
left all alone
To make documents and bills and ans
wer the phone.
Take bills to the depot so the ears can
roll.
Carrying bombs to the front, to take
their toll.
All alone in this great building, the
wind howls, the windows rattle.
'
The walls creak, the ghosts walk. An
na listens to the spooks’ prattle.

learned to be brave
For after all she is too old to be a

They say he won’t die. this gnarled

He'll just dry up and blow far away;

If we hold up our end with Shuffle-

ROCKET GUN GETS AAAAAAAAAAAAA
THREE PLANES
Register Now!
The aircraft rocket gun of the Ord
nance Department. Army Service
Forces, is doing some remarkable
feats against the enemy.
Colonel A. S. Buyers, Commanding
Officer, Umatilla Ordnance Depot,
said that probably the most interest
ing was one that recently happened in
the China-Burma-India theatre of op
erations. Several of our planes were
out on a mission. Returning to their
base, they flew through a dense cloud
formation and one of the planes be
came separated from the rest. When
the pilot emerged from the clouds,
there were-four Zeros waiting for
him. He let one rocket fly and it
made a direct hit on one of the Zeros
and blew it apart. While attempting
to avoid the debris, two of the remain
ing Zeros collided and crashed. The
other Zero fled. The pilot was cred
ited with dowing three Zeros with one
shot, a very creditable performance.
