POINTS ON LAMB
TO STAY ON
The national Office of Price Ad
ministration today reaffirmed its pre
vious position and has decided not to
grant a point holiday or bonus stamp
for lamb, according to word just re
ceived by George L. Curry, acting dis
trict OPA director, from Charles R.
Baird, regional OPA administrator at
San Francisco.
Baird relayed the message from
Charles Phillips. OPA deputy admin
istrator in charge of rationing at
Washington, D. C.
Phillips said the matter had been
thoroughly reconsidered at a joint
meeting with officials of the War
Food Administration, the Office of
Price Administration and the War
Meat Board, and the district OPA re-
quest was denied on the ground that
recent ameliorating factors are re-
lieving the local lamb situation.
Phillips explained that removal of
utility lamb from points should give
some relief, and that increased buy
ing by the military will absorb higher
quality lamb. He indicated also that
demands of the consuming public are
accelerating considerably over the de
mand of the past 30-60
30-60 days.
