The Golden Text was, “Be mer
ciful unto me, O God: for man

ing daily oppresseth me . . . What
time I am afraid, I will trust in
thee’’ (Ps. 56: 1, 3).
Among the citations which com
prised the Lesson-Sermon was
the following from the Bible:
“And Jesus knew their thoughts,
and said unto them, every king
dom divided against itself is
brought to desolation; and every
city or house divided against itself
shall not stand. But if I cast out
devils by the Spirit of God, then
the kingdom of God is come un
to you” (Matt. 12:25, 28).
The Lesson-Sermon also in-
eluded the following correl-
stive passages from the Christian
Science textbook, “Science and
Health with Key to the Scrip
tures” by Mary Baker Eddy: "Hu-
man will-power is not Science.
Human will belongs to the so-
called material senses, and its use
is to be condemned. Willing the
sick to recover is not the meta
physical practice of Christian
Science, but is sheer animal mag
netism” (p 144).
