OLIN RITCHIE
The funeral rites for Olin Ritchie,
36, were held from the Presbyterian
church Monday afternoon. August 23,
with Rev. Cecil Warner of Hermiston
giving the sermon, and his daughter
played the music. Mrs. Don Sikes and
Ben Gerking sang two songs.
Pallbearers were Nathan Bard, M.
Refvem, Clyde Kenison, Don Childs,
Lloyd Russell and Bill Westermier.
Survivers are his mother Mrs. Sam
uel Ritchie, his wife Jennie and his
daughters Shirley Darlene, aged 6,
and Sharon Marie, aged 2, and two
sisters, Mrs. Clayton Ayers, Echo, and
Hazel Ritchie of Mottinger, Wash.
Burial was at Echo.

At a simple wedding in Lewiston,
Idaho, Miss Doris Rodenbough, daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Roden
bough, besame the bride of Gene Hiatt
of the U. S. Navy, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Ursel Hiatt. The couple was ac
companied by their parents.
Both the young people attended
grade and high school in the local
school and for the past several months
Mrs. Hiatt has been employed at the
Ordnance Depot.
The young couple will leave this
week for Cincinnati, Ohio, where he is
stationed.
Thomas Chapman, superintendent
of the local school, was in town Thurs
day and attended a school board meet
ing. There are still a few vacancies
in the teaching staff.
Those teachers already signing con
tracts are Mr. Chapman, superintend
ent; Miss Ina Gilbert. 1st and 2nd
grades; Miss Margaret McDaid, 3rd
and 4th grades; and Mrs. Dona Bul
lard, 7th and 8th grades.
A son, Charles, was born August
16 in Portland to Mr. and Mrs. Thom
as Chapman, who have spent their
summer there.

turned last week from a few days
spent in Portland visiting with his
daughters.
