Final check-up on the sale of bonds
and stamps at the war bond rally Sat
urday evening showed purchase of
211:650 in bonds and approximately
$250 in stamps to start the local sec
ond war bond drive. Most of the
bonds sold were of series E, including
three »1000 bonds, three $500 and 42
$100 bonds, the remainder being $25
and $50 demnominations. Five hund
red dollars of Series G bonds were or-
dered. The rally entertainment. staged
by local civic organizations with Mrs.
Hawley Bean as chairman, presented
excellent songs, readings and skits,
including several numbers by soldiers
from Pendleton Field. The Pendleton
Field dance orchestra played after
the program. Committees appointed
by Mayor Ebert for intensive solici
tation in the second bond drive are:

Echo Masonic lodge conferred a
Master Mason degree at the meeting
Tuesday evening and on Thursday
evening will put on the same degree
for another candidate. Refreshments
will be served after the degree work
Thursday. Visiting Masons are in
vited.
Residents who contemplate using
city water for irrigating Victory gar
dens this summer will have to arrange
with the water superintendent and
the water committee for a monthly
charge for such service. The amount
charged will be based on the size of
the garden and must be paid monthly
in advance. This action was taken
by the city council at the meeting
Wednesday. Hours for use of water
for sprinkling lawns or on gardens
have been set from 6:00 to 9:00 a.m.
and from 5:00 to 8:00 p. m. Water
may not be used for this purpose at
any other time, day or night.
