formerly of this district, visited
friends in this area last week. He
stayed at the home of his sister, Mr.
and Mrs. Carl Haddox of Irrigon. He
is now stationed in Alaska.
Mr. and Mrs. Guy Shaw and sons
Carl and Ray, and the Misses Rebec­
ca Pierson and Donna Kelly will
spend Christmas day in Heppner at
the home of Mr. Shaw’s mother, Mrs.
Casha Shaw.
A large group of relatives and
friends spent Sunday evening at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Wells
following the wedding reception.
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Franklin of
Winnemucca, Nevada, were to leave
Wednesday after spending several
days here at the home of Mrs. Frank­
lin’s sister. Mrs. Sherman Wells.
Mrs. Virgil Hatfield of Hillsboro
spent the week end here, coming for
the wedding of her cousin, Miss Vir­
ginia Wells, for whom she acted as
matron of honor.
Don Cellers. son of Mr. and Mrs. B.
Cellers. and a '42 graduate of Her­
miston high school and who enlisted
just before Thanksgiving, received
his order to report last Monday and
left immediately for Portland. He
will be stationed with the U. S.
Coast Guard at Bonneville for the
present.
Out of town guests here Sunday for
the Wells-Moore wedding were Mr.
and Mrs. William Instone, Mrs. Effie
Morgan. Messrs. Charles and Walter
Luckman, all of Heppner; Mr. and
Mrs. Clyde Franklin of Winnemucca.
Nevada; Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Coe and
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Reese of Echo;
and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Crawford and
Virginia of Pendleton. Mr. Crawford
took moving picture scenes of the
wedding party at the church and at
the bride’s home.
Lt. Col. Paul Stockard and Mrs.
