(From the Bulldog
The Hermiston Bulldogs lost a
thriller to Pilot Rock Friday night,
23-22, in a game that was in doubt
until the last whistle.
Tiller opened the scoring with a
push-shot early in the game and with
Rugg and Wilcox scoring soon there
after, it looked for a time that the
Bulldogs were on their way. However,
the Rockets started hitting from far
out and closed the gap to lead 16-12
at half-time.
Holloman’s entry into the game
started a rally in the second half that
put the Bulldogs in front 21-20 with
seconds to play—but the Rockets were
not to be denied. A poor pass into
Tilles was intercepted by Pilot Rock
and resulted "in the winning score.
With three seconds left, Cullen barely
missed a long shot and Rugg fumbled
the rebound to end the game.
The B team won its game in the
preliminary.
The starting A team lineup for the
locals was Lester Wilcox, Lowell Til
ler, Bud Rugg, Bernard Cullen and
Bob Miller.
