Stuart Rankin, who recently enter­
ed the U. S. Army, is stationed at
Camp Grant, Illinois. He transferred
there from Fort Lewis, Washington.
D. D. Follett, popular meat cutter
of Hermiston, suffered a painful in­
jury one day this week when he stuck
a sharp knife into his knee cap. The
mishap occurred when he was killing
an extra-active steer. Aside from a
slight limp, Mr. Follett had recover­
ed the latter part of the week.
Mr. and Mrs. George Sale, Sr., of
Stanfield and his brother. Herman
Sale of Arlington, returned Thursday
of last week from an extended trip
spent in visiting relatives and friends
in Kansas, Oklahoma, Ohio, Missouri
and Colorado. They report good
crops in Kansas but much rain and
storms. They left Kansas City in a
great downpour. The rains this seas­
on established an all time high. The
trio traveled by train.
Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Barlow and
family of Cornelius arrived Satur­
day to attend the homecoming and
3rd anniversary of th Central Church
of Christ. The Barlows own and op­
rate a custom cannery at Cornelius.
They operated the Cooperative Can­
nery and Laundry here about three
year ago. While in Hermiston they
were guests of Rev. and Mrs. C. War-
ner.
