be Oregon's principal part in agri
culture’s all-out mobilization for de
fense in 1942, according to Robert B.
Taylor of Pendleton, chairman of the
Oregon USDA agricultural defense
board.
Oregon’s production goals, brought
back from an eleven state conference
of farmers and farm leaders at Sait
Lake City last week, have been re-
viewed and accepted by the state de
fense board, Taylor said. Within the
next two weeks, a statewide drive will
be launched to marshall the state’s
productive strength behind the pro-
gram.
“Oregon agriculture has been given
its biggest job and we must deliver,”
Taylor declared. “With the assurance |
of Secretary Wickard that achieving |
these production goals is just as im
portant to the nation as building
tanks and planes, I am confident that
our Oregon farmers will get the job
done.”
Program leaders will now break
down the state goals into county fig
ures after which a farm-to-farm
drive will be made to get the increases
promised on a voluntary basis.
