Lexington Saturday evening.
Mrs. Kelly Davis and daughter Col­
leen of Vancouver, Wn., are visiting
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Merrill
Potter.
Mrs. Ida Gordon of Arlington was
an overnight guest of Mrs. Georgia
Henderson Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Bowman have re­
cently moved into their new home
north of Hermiston.
H. E. Devereaux, director, division
of operation, W. P. A. offices in Port­
land, was a business visitor in Her­
miston this week.
The high school glee club serenad­
ed Miss Lavina May Lynch at the
Walter Hamm home Tuesday even­
ing.
A meeting of the Boy Scout Troop
committee will be held at the office
of Dr. F. B. Belt next Tuesday,
April 15.
August Dron is the carpenter in
charge at the hisholm Grain & Feed
Store where extensive improvements
are being made in the front office.
Mrs. Zelda Marble is now tempo­
rarily employed at the Hotel Dining
Room, Oregon Employment Agency
and at the Umatilla Cooperative
Creamery.

Mis. F. C. Woughter, who was tak­
en to the Pendleton hospital last
Thursday
following a paralytic
stroke is getting along fairly well.
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Curl (the for­
mer Miss Mary Sturdivant I are par­
ents of a baby boy born early Wed­
nesday morning.
Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Huffman of the
Pacific Power & Light Company
have moved to the Harold Thompson
residence on Gladys Avenue.
Mrs. Paul Van Patten, Miss Jessie
Brierley, Mrs. Mary Brierley and
Mrs. Roy Attebury went to Walla
Walla Thursday.
Mrs. Fern Zivney attended the
Eastern Oregon principals’ confer­
ence held in LaGrande Saturday,
April 5. She was accompanied by
Miss Rosemary Serell and Miss
Tieschler.
Vic Addleman is now employed at
the Hermiston post office. Don Ser­
rell, former extra clerk, has now been
promoted to a full time position. Mr.
Addleman fills the position formerly
held by Mr. Serrell.
Mrs. George McKenzie and three
children of Tillamook arrived Satur­
day by tram to spend a week visit­
ing her parents. Mr. and Mrs. J. G.
Pea. son. They will be joined by Mr.
McKenzie Saturday.
Sunday visitors at the Frank See-
liger home were his mother, Mrs.
Mary Seeliger, Mrs. Henry Debus,
Mr. and Mrs. Alex Fraser and daugh­
ter, Miss Evadel Fraser, and Frank
Fraser and daughter Barbara, all of
Walla Walla.
Walter Green, son of Mr. and Mrs
C. B. Greene, was taken back to the
hospital in Pendleton Friday after
it w as learned that he had rebroken
a bone in his leg. He came home
March 30 and was thought to be
well on the way to recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Hodge and
daughter Janet returned Monday
night from a 5-day trip into Califor­
nia. They traveled approximately
2,500 miles and visited such cities as
Seattle, San Francisco. Oakland and
Sacramento. Mr. Hodge stated that
en route they encountered the scenes
of many road slides but were not en­
dangered themselves.
Miss Ina W attenburger of Oak­
land, alif., was a guest of her sister,
Mrs. Harry Andrews Jr., from Mon­
day till Wednesday of this week. The
former was accompanied by Miss Lu-
ra Hendrick who was a guest of Mr.
and Mrs. Ted Roy of Pendleton.
A house-warming party was held
Saturday night at the Frank Seeli­
ger home in the Westland district.
Fifty guests enjoyed dancing until a
late hour when refreshments were
served. Bert Michel, Sam Moore
and Mr. Brothers furnished the mu­
sic for dancing.
Mr. and Mrs. J. Herbert Swarner
of Corvallis are the parents of a
baby boy born April 4. The young
man weighed eight pounds, 14 ounc­
es and has been named Thomas Her­
bert. The latter is a grandson of
Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Swarner of Her­
miston.

meeting of the year will be held next
Thursday, April 17, at the high
school. An exhibit of school work
will be featured during the day. In
the evening a short business meet­
ing will be- held at which time an in-
staliatiun of officers will be heli.

Mrs. Frances A. Green of McIn­
tosh, South Dakota, and Mrs. Grace
Stanton of Jordan, Mont., are visit­
ing Mrs. Green’s sister, Mrs. Nellie
Tucker ol the Columbia district. They
arrived Tuesday night and will spend
two weeks here.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Van Patten
were delightful hosts Tuesday even­
ing at a “chicken in the rough’’ din­
ner. Present for the occasion were
