Dave Mittlesdorf recently made a
trip to Ontario with 5% tons of red
clover seed which had been sold for
delivery there.
Fred Reeves and Stewart Rankin
spent from last Sunday to Thursday
visiting in Portland and Salem. They
took in the state fair while in Salem.
Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Warner and
Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Swayze left Sun­
day for a 10-day vacation trip into
Canada. They planned to see some
of the interesting points of our
northern neighbors.

Joe Reeves, who has spent the
past two weeks visiting in Portland
and Salem, returned home Thursday.
He spent most of the time with his
daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs.
F. D. Morgan of Salem.
Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Wilcox and
Mrs. W. J. Kennir.gs went to Port­
land last week. Mr. and Mrs. Wil­
cox continued on to Salem where
they took in the state fair. They
were accompanied home by Mrs. Ken­
nings and Mrs. H. E. Petitt and son
Bob who will visit here with her
mother, Mrs. Georgia Henderson,
and her aunt, Mrs. C. E. Baker.

Tehachapi, Calif., spent last week
visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.

Mrs. B. I. Whitney visited Sunday
with Mrs. Mabel Walker at Arling­
ton. They also went to Maryhill and
Goldendale, Wn.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Reeves are the
parents of a baby girl, weighing 6%
pounds. She was born last Tuesday
and has been named Penelope Kay.
Mrs. Howard Packard and infant
daughter is expected home from Oak­
land. Cal., this week end. She will
make the trip by plane.
C. H. Olmsted, connected with the
Oregon Board of Pharmacy, was a
business caller in Hermiston Wed­
nesday.
Mr. and Mrs. W. W. (Bill) Felt-
house Jr. of Walla Walla are an­
nouncing the birth of an 8-pound ba­
by girl born Tuesday in a Walla Wal­
la hospital. No name had been de­
cided upon at latest reports.

met Tuesday evening at the R. B.
Wilcox home. Record books were
brought up to date and other busi­
ness discussed.
Miss Lucille Forsyth, teacher here
the past year, left last week for
Washington, D. C., where she will be
connected with the Munitions Dept,,
as junior typist.
Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Villermoure are
expected home today (Thursday) af­
ter spending a week’s vacation at the
home of their daughter, Mr. and Mrs.
E. A. Hoosier, at Ashland.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Graves and
two children of St. Louis, Mo., spent
Saturday night at the Harold Ran­
kin home. They were en route to
Seattle where Mr. Graves will be
connected with the Navy Reserves.
He is a cousin of Mrs. Rankin.
Miss Kay Turnblad, who has spent
the summer months working at Nes­
kowin, is visiting at the home of her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Turn­
blad. She will remain here for sev­
eral weeks and her plans are indefi­
nite for the winter.
Dr. and Mrs. John Craig of Gold­
field, Nev., arrived last Sunday and
left Tuesday for a short visit with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H.
Quick.
Mr. and Mrs. B. I. Whitney plan
to leaye Sunday for a vacation trip
to Marysville, Calif., where they will
visit her daughter, Mrs. Glenn Ruth­
erford, and will also take in the San
Francisco fair.
Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Hider and
two children of Willamina spent
Tuesday night at the O. C. Pierce
home. They were en route to the
Pendleton Round Up.
Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Pierce and son
Stanley and the R. L. Elliott family
of Pendleton spent the week end at
the Pearson ranger station. Otto in­
dulged in his favorite sport of fish­
ing, returning with a fine catch.

Mrs. Neill Boynton returned Sat­
urday from The Dalles hospital
where she has spent the past six
weeks. She is greatly improved.
Members of the Methodist church
ladies aid will meet Wednesday for
an all-day meeting for clean-up pur­
poses.
Mr. and Mrs. John Pace and fam­
ily of Portland are spending a two
weeks vacation at the home of his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Pace.
While here they are also visiting
other friends.
Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Delashnutt of
Sheridan, Ore., stopped at the home
of his sister, Victoria Churchman,
and his brother, Vernie Delashnutt,
en route to Pendleton for the Round-
Up one day this week. He owns a
large stock ranch near Sheridan.
Asa, Vester and Lee Shaw, sons of
Mr. and Mrs. Guy Shaw, returned
Tuesday from an 8-day trip to Port­
land, Salem and Willamina. They
visited the state fair while in the
valley. Lee left the same day for a
station above Pendleton where he
will be employed with the railroad.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Van Patten re­
turned Sunday from a two weeks va­
cation spent at the home of his par­
ents in New Bridge, Ore. Paul spent
several days on a fishing trip into
the mountains, returning with an ex­
cellent catch. He was on vacation
from the Umatilla Cooperative
Creamery.
