spent Wednesday in Hermiston.

A special meeting of the Westland
Home Economics club was held re­
cently at the home of Mrs. Jess Prin-

A. F. Rohrman and R. C. McRey­
nolds left Thursday (today) for
Portland to attend a three-day Ford
school.
Richard Rainwater left the Her­
miston General hospital Saturday to
recuperate at the home of his aunt
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hibbard.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Mason of
Ellensburg, Wn., spent from Satur­
day till Monday at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. B. J. Nation. .
Mr. and Mrs. Frank M. Swayze
of Montana are visiting at the home
of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. B.
Swayze.
Robert Harris, son of Mr. and
Mrs. George Harris, writes from Al­
aska that he has been transferred
there from Missoula, Mont., and is
now with Co. 4, Infantry, serving on
the defense squadron located at
Anchorage. He further states that he
now weighs 191 pounds and is 6
feet, 1 inch tall. Apparently army
life agrees with him.
Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Smith and
daughter Erla spent Monday in The
Dalles.
Mrs. Jasper Meyers of Echo was
a caller in Hermiston Wednesday.
Mrs. James Stout is a medical pa­
tient at the Hermiston General hos­
pital.
Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Reeker of Los
Angeles were house guests of Mr. and
Mrs. Alton Kingsbury Sunday.
Gene Pierce, on vacation from the
First National Bank of Pendleton,
is spending the week here at the home
of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto
Pierce.
Marvin and Clyde Whitney of
Grandview, Wn.. left Saturday after
spending a week here visiting at the
home of their uncle, Mr. and Mrs.
B. I. Whitney.
Mr. and Mrs. Leo Lonney of Mc­
Minnville spent Tuesday at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Prindle. They
were en route to visit relatives in
Weston.
Ralph Brownson, manager of the
local Tum-A-Lum Lumber Co., ex­
pects to leave Saturday for Los An­
geles where he will meet Mrs. Brown-
son who is visiting there with their
daughter, Miss Shirley Brownson.
The Brownsons will return home in
about three weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Neil Boynton and
son Paul, accompanied by Mrs. Le-
Roy Sullivan and son Allen of Rose­
burg, who had been visiting relatives
here, and Miss Betty Boynton of He­
lix who went to Roseburg to visit, left
Saturday morning by way of Bend
and the McKenzie Pass to Roseburg.
Mr. and Mrs. Boynton returned home
via the coast route, stopping to visit
for a short time with friends at Mc­
Minnville. They returned home Tues­
day evening.
Mrs. Walt Pearson, Mrs. A. E.
Bensel, Mrs. Zona Rodgers and Jerry,
Mrs. Fred Barker and two children
of Susanville, who had been visiting
with her parents Mr. and Mrs. A. E.
Bensel the past six weeks, motored
to Burns Saturday where they were
met by Mr. Barker. The group re­
turned to Susanville where Mrs.
Rodgers plans to make her home and

Bensel returned home Sunday by way
of Weiser, Idaho, where they visited
Mr. and Mrs. Jay Pierson, who was
formerly assistant county agent here.
Mr. Pierson was recuperating from
a three weeks illness with pneumonia.
