are a practical application of the highest social ideals and the
soundest economic principles. They tend to correct quietly but
surely the fundamental faults of modern business.
They eliminate profits and subsequent tendency to exploit the
customer and substitute the distribution of goods and services at
cost.
We submit as obvious that cooperation is a higher, better and
more workable principle than competition.

EVENTS PLANNED
By .Vfrr. T. A. O’Grady
Mrs. B. A. Doyle, chairman of the
flower show committee, suggests that
when the members receive the flow
er show schedule that they study it
carefully, marking ail the classes in
which they intend to exhibit, basing
their plans on the material they will
have in their garden at the time of
the show, April 27th.
In most classes the exhibitor may
show only home grown flowers. There
are some classes, however, in which
it will be possible to use flowers not
grown by the exhibitor. These clas
ses include the arrangement classes,
the miniatures, shadow boxes and
dish gardens. This will be plainly
stated on the schedule.
The scale if points to be used in
judging straight classes, specimen
blooms, will be as follows:
Color .............. ............. 25%
Size ............................. 20 %
Stem ......................... -• 20%
Form .......................... 15 %
Substance .................. 20 %
Total points .............. 100%
The scale for arrangement will be
given at a later date. The scale of
points to be used in judging the
classes for house plants are as fol
lows:

Size of plant .............. 20%
Floriferousness .......—. 20%
