At a simple home ceremony S un
day morning, Septem ber 10, -was sol
emnized the m arriage of Miss Jean
MacLaren to John M. Biggs, Jr., of
Dayton, Oregon. T he service was
read a t ten o’clock at the residence
of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs.
G. D. MacLaren, Rev. W illiston W irt
of the F irst Congregational church
officiating. Mr. Biggs is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Biggs, now of
Pendleton and form erly of H erm is
ton.
The couple was unattended.
The bride wore an afternoon silk
cr^pe dress in the new pigeon blue.
Her flowers were a corsage of roses
and stephanotis.
About tw enty-five relatives and
close friends were present for the
wedding. A breakfast Was served
following the service. Out-of-town
guests included Mrs. R. J. Wolff and
daughter, M artha Ann, Mr. and Mrs.
Monroe W att, and Don MacLaren,
brother of the bride, all from Seattle.
The couple will live at Dayton,
Mr. Biggs being in the newspaper
Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Denton of Milton
are announcing the m arriage of th eir
daughter, L oretta L., to Don S.
Moore, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen H.
Moore of Herm iston on Septem ber 12
a t Council, Idaho. The m arriage was
solemnized a t the C h ristian church
parsonage in th a t city.
A ttending the ceremony were Mr.
and Mrs. Moore and d au g h ter Naomi
of Herm iston, and S heriff and Mrs.
Ed. W ade and d au g h ter of Council.
The la tte r family are friends of the
Moores.

a t McMinnville w here he will be em

present a t the meeting on Monday
heard a most in terestin g talk on the
origin and cu ltu re of dahlias, given
by J. H. Reid, well know n on the
project as an en th u siastic and suc
cessful grower of these plants. In
formation given by Mr. Reid was the
result of the study of th e grow th of
dahlias under local conditions, and
was most helpful.
Mrs. B. J. N ation gave a talk on
fall care of th e perennials in the:
garden, tan sp lan tin g , covering, etc.,
and answered many questions. A
round
table discussion followed
sent in by Mrs. H. K. Dean told
along the lines of her talk. A paper
w hat to do in the garden in Septem
ber.
