w hich re n d e r th e pro d u ct ad ap ta b le
to a w ide ra n g e of s tru c tu r a l uses.
F o llo w in g several y ears of re ­
search a n d ex p e rim e n ta tio n w ith th e
p ro d u ct, to d eterm in e its m any uses
a n d phy sical p ro p erties, th e a u th o r
o ffers th e re s u lts to th e p ublic since
n u m ero u s req u ests h av e been re ­
ceived for in fo rm a tio n co n cern in g
th e use of th e m a te ria l.
C em en t-saw d u st co n crete is com ­
posed of a m ix tu re of P o rtla n d ce­
m en t, sa w d u st an d w a te r in p red e­
term in ed proportions.
T h e g en eral
a p p e a ra n c e is th e sam e as an o rd in a ­
ry cem ent-sand m o rta r except th a t
it is lig h t and fluffy. T h is flu ffy
co n d itio * is of d is tin c t v alu e sin ce
it adds to th e lig h t w e ig h t an d place­
m ent q u a litie s of th e m a te ria l. T he
fin ish e d p ro d u c t w ill v a ry in w eig h t
a n d su rface te x tu re acco rd in g to th e
p ro p o rtio n s, an av erag e w eig h t be­
in g a b o u t 45 pounds per cubic foot,
o r a b o u t o n e -th ird th a t of o rd in a ry
concrete.
T h e fin ish ed p ro d u ct is w a te r re ­
p ellen t, is easily finished to a sm ooth
su rface and is re la tiv e ly re s is ta n t to
a b rasio n .
T he m a te ria l is f ir e r e ­
s is ta n t and w ill n o t su p p o rt com bus­
tio n ; te s ts prove th a t it w ill w ith ­
sta n d te m p e ra tu re s u p to 250 de­
grees F. w ith o u t d e trim e n ta l effects.
T h e re s ile n t q u a lity of th e m a te r­
ia l is due to th e so m ew h at porous
c h a ra c te r of th e m ix tu re. R esilience
is very d e sira b le for p o u ltry houses
and d a iry b a rn s sin ce th e floors of
su ch b u ild in g s should possess good
¿hock-ab so rb in g pro p erties.
A n o th e r d esirab le q u a lity of th e
m a te ria l is th e ease w ith w hich it
can be c u t a fte r it h as h ard en ed . I t
can be saw ed w ith an o rd in a ry c a r­
p e n te r saw and it w ill hold n a ils or
screw s. T hese q u a litie s in d ic a te th e
