The committee on the aommunity
Christmas tree and its lighting are
busy with their plans, and are re
ceiving cooperation from a number
of people. The Hermiston Light &
Power Co., will furnish the electri
city and connections to the main
line, and Dr. F. B. Belt, as chair
man of the committee appointed by
the Commercial club, is in charge of
getting a suitable tree. The Com
mercial club has the bulbs used for
community trees in the past, and
all the electricians In the commun
ity have expressed a desire to work
together In re-dipping the bulbs and
connecting them to the wiring. Jul
ius Gimble and Curtis Simons have
offered to place the lights on the
tree.
The school will be contacted to
see if there can be carol singing.
The men who turned out to work
at the cemetery Sunday morning did
fine work digging and setting out
trees and cleaning up the grounds
of weeds, tin cans and much rub
bish. A truck was furnished for
hauling by the Hermiston Transfer,
and a dinner was served to the work
ers at Stewart’s Service Station by a
committee from the Garden club
