George, and in each case resu lts
w ere the same. The th istles become
stu n ted in grow th a fte r th e first
year, and few of them m ake seed.

came to th e United S tates a t th e age
of 18, locating a t Cresco, Iowa. Mr.
and Mrs. L ing w ere am ong th e e a r
liest pioneers in S tanfield, com ing
from Fargo, N. D., in 1910. Mr. L ing
operated th e Home B u ild er's asso
ciation and w rote in su ran ce for
m any years. He was very activ e in
com m unity a ffa irs.*
Mrs. L ing preceeded him in death
five years ago and since th a t tim e
he has made his home w ith his
d au g h ter, Mrs. T. W. Cole a t L ew is
ton, Idaho. Mr. L ing passed aw ay in
Lew iston, A ugust 26, 1938.
He is survived by tw o d au g h ters,
Mrs. T. W. Cole and Mrs. R alph
H olte of L ew iston; five g ran d c h ild
ren and th ree g rea t g ran d ch ild ren ,
two b ro th ers, L. E. A. L in g of
W aterloo, I a., and C. W. L in g of
B illings, M ontana.
