TWENTY-TWO
YEARS AGO
Mr. M. B. Skaggs opened his first
store—small, and unimpressive, but
built upon an idea.
Years of ex-
the
perience have demonstrated
truth of that principle: Better mer
chandise at lower prices by selling
for cash and eliminating the costly
waste of old-fashioned credit meth
ods.
On that foundation Safeway
Stores have grown and the sound
ness of that Idea remains unchal
lenged by depression or by "boom”
years. We salute our founder whose
solid principles have made Safeway
Stores the west's leading grocer.
