Miss Helen Glenn of Halfway was
elected to take the place of Miss.Vi-
vian Johnston on the school staff.
Miss Johnston is to teach at Forest
Grove, Ore., this year.
Hazel Parsons received a painful
injury when a milk bottle broke in
her hand, severed the ligaments in
one of her fingers.
Mrs. Lester Uthe was taken to
Yakima Monday where she under­
went an appendicitis operation.
Ada Mae Harford arrived Friday
to work at the Oasis. She will also
attend school here this winter.
Miss Peggy Rodgers of Alderdale,
Wn., is working at the hotel in
Emogene Wilson's place. Emogene
has employment in Arlington.
Mr. and Mrs. Nate Macomber and
Mr. and Mrs. Sid McReynolds left
Saturday for Port Orford where
they will enjoy several days vaca­
tion.
Mrs. Gladys Fortier and Miss Nor­
ma Gibbons returned home last week
from Cheney, Wn., where Norma has
been attending summer school.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom DeLano and
son left Wednesday for Montana for
a short visit with relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. I. L. Stout returned
Wednesday from a trip to Twin
Falls, Idaho.
Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Bates and Tom
Hendricks made a business trip to
Seattle and Spokane last week.
The Tannehills are enjoying a
visit with Mr. Tannehill’s brother,
A. W. Tannehille and wife of Glen­
dale, Cal. Other visitors are Mr. and
Mrs. Ed Ames and son. Mr. Ames is
employed by the postal service at
Glendale, and is on his vacation.
Eleanor Skovbo, who has been vi­
siting her uncle and family, Mr. and
Mrs. J. Skovbo in Hermiston, re­
turned to her home Sunday.
Mrs. Sophia Barlow carried the
mail for Mr. Tannehill Tuesday.
The Gorhams spent the week end
in Pendleton.
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Doney were
in Condon over Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hadley and
Stanton returned from their trip
Sunday evening. Mrs. Hadley’s sis-
ter and daughter of Oregon City
came with them for a short visit.
Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Cabe of Ione
were visitors at the Messenger home
Monday.
Fred Slanger sold his melon patch
to Martin Brokers at Portland. They
loaded out a car Monday.
Mrs. Frank Hammel of The Dalles
arrived Monday for a few days visit
with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Mes­
senger.
