Mrs. Ed Barlow of Boardman was
in town Wednesday.
Mrs. Margaret Farley of Heppner
was in town on business this week.

Helen Woughter, student at the
University of Oregon, is spending
the spring vacation with her par­

Ralph W. Allen, superintendent of
the Umatilla Field Station here for
ten years before H. K. Dean took
over the superintendency, was call­
ing on old friends here Wednesday.
Mr. Allen is now located near Bon­
ners Ferry, Idaho, where he has
farm land. He still owns property
in this district and near Adams.
The Hermiston Altar Society will
hold a cooked food sale April 4th, at

A group of students arrived home
from Oregon State college Tuesday
night to spend the spring vacation
with their parents. One group was
composed of Bob Henderson, Walter
Jendrzejewski, Miriam Swarner, Ed­
na Ott of Hermiston, and Stanley
Green of Stanfield.
Mrs. E. C. Schofield and two
children of Vancouver, Wn., accom­
panied by Miss Betty Ralph who Is
a student at O.S.C., arrived Tuesday.
Mrs. Schofield plans to visit her
parents. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Warner,
for some time and Betty will spend
spring vacation with her mother,
Mrs. Mable Ralph.
A cooked food sale will be given

Several members of the Hermis­
ton Townsend club motored to Pen­
dleton Wednesday night to attend
an oyster supper sponsored by the
Pendleton Townsend club. They
were C. R. Moore, A. E. Bensel, sec­
retary and president of the local
club, J. W. McMullen, F. E. Earn-
hart, A. Buhmann and Clarence Buh­
mann.
Miss Marjorie Burnham, who is
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Morgan of
I Dayville. Ore., visited friends and teaching at Gurdane, spent the week
relatives in Hermiston over the end at her home.

Kenneth M. Mayer of Portland is
now employed in the First National
Bank of Hermiston replacing D. M.
Deeter who recently resigned to
move to Bellingham, Wn., about
March 22d, where he has purchased
a fruit ranch. Mr. Mayer was form­
erly employed by the First National
Bank of Portland.
Mrs. A. H. Norton and Mrs. Dave
Mittlesdorf were joint hostesses
Thursday and Friday at two con­
tract bridge luncheons at the home
of Mrs. Norton. Mrs. D. M. Deeter,
who leaves soon for Bellingham,
Wn„ was honoree Thursday, and
was presented with a guest prize.
Mrs. Neil Robertson won high hon­
ors Thursday and Mrs. O. K. Mudge
high honors Saturday.

Jackson and Mrs. E. P. Dodd enter­
tained jointly Monday evening at a
contract bridge dinner party at the
home of Mrs. Fraser. Five tables of
bridge ’ were in play with Mr. and
Mrs. G. , W. Ripley winning high
honors and Mr. and Mrs. N. R.
Mueller winning second high hon-
ors.
Mary Jane Hawkins, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hawkins of Adams,
underwent a mastoid operation Sun­
day at St. Anthony’s hospital In
Pendleton, following an illness of
five weeks with flu and ear trouble.
She Is well known in the Hermiston
district.
Miss Norma Davis entertained at
a miscellaneous shower Thursday
evening honoring Mrs. Sloan Spencer
at her home in Stanfield. Invited
guests were Mrs. Gilbert Smith and
Mrs. Spencer of Stanfield. Mrs. All-
stott, Mrs. Ben Spencer, Mildred
Phelps, Helen Dunning, Sylvia Shut­
ter, June Richards, Marnie Smith
and Ruth Dodd, all of Hermiston.
