W. D. Neill of Pine City, is employ
ed in the Shaar Barber shop. Hugh
is a graduate of the Molar Barber
school in Portland and has been
employed In a Portland shop for the
past six months.
Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Dick and son
Jake, and Miss Marie Pankratz of
Dallas. Oregon, stopped in to see Mr.
and Mrs. AI Quiring Wednesday
morning. They were enroute to
Mountain Lake. Minn.

Mr. Alplanalp. former Hermiston
nursery man. visited friends In Her
miston over the week end. More
than a year ago Mr. Abplanalp was
in an automobile accident and as
the result nearly lost his eyesight.
He is somewhat improved at pres-
ent. however.

Carl Moser, department adjutant
of the American Legion for Oregon,
visited with the local Legion offi
cials in Hermiston Monday after
noon. Moser was on his way to his
headquarters in Portland, after at
tending a Legion conference in

where they visited Mrs. Richard’s

Mr. Frank John Harkenrider’s 77th
birthday celebration.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Van Patton
have rented the Swayze place south
of the Harvey Payne farm, and es
tablished residence there Sunday.
They have been making their home
with Mrs. Van Patton’s parents, Mr.
and Mrs. R. G. Attebury, for the
past five months, during the illness
of Mr. Attebury who was in Cali
fornia.
Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Seitz of Win
lock, Ore., arrived in Hermiston Sun
day evening and will remain here to
farm their 20-acre tract of land
north of town. Mrs. Seitz has been
in poor health for some time and
has been in Portland for the past
six weeks receiving medical treat
ment.

Mrs. Guy Amsberry received word
Sunday night of the death of her
great nephew. Jimmie Ranson, 4-
year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Mary
Ranson of Fruitland, Idaho. He is
also the grandson of Mrs. Phoebe
Palmer who lived with Mrs. Ams-
berry here until recently, She is
with the family in Idaho at the
present time.
A group of young people attended
a Youth Fellowship conference in
La Grande over the week end at
which there were 300 in attendance
representing several counties. Dele
gates from Umatilla were the Misses
Lola Berry and Marguerite Cox, and
Esther McMullen. Virginia Dyer,
Pauline Stoop and Clarence Buhman

in the Hermiston Hotel dining room
Monday evening. An atmosphere of
spring was created by the arrange
ment of daffodils as table center
pieces. Excellent table service added
to the enjoyment of the guests, for
which twenty-eight covers were laid.

the evening with Mr. and Mrs.
