Fire Hazards increased.
The hazard of fire is often in-
creased by thoughtlessness on the
part of onlookers who are curious
to see the developments of a fire
and watch the firemen work. It is
natural that people should jump in
to their cars and dash off to the
scene of a fire, but It is another
thing when they obstruct the only
thoroughfare leading to the scene
and when they deliberately pilot
their cars over the fire hose.
Last Saturday night a fire alarm
came from the Hermiston General
hospital fairly early in the evening,
and since the snow was still in the
throes of a Chinook there was but
one track by which the truck could

The hose was connected with a fire
plug near the McReynolds home and
was strung along the track in the
road.
Firemen were hindered and hand
icapped in their work by the num
ber of cars which blocked the road
ahead of them, and which were deli
berately driven over the firehose.
