Mr. and Mrs. Neill Barnhart re
turned last week to their home here.
Mr. Barnhart had been doing relief
work for the Standard Oil Co., agent
at Athena for the past three weeks.
Mrs. Barnhart stayed in Pendleton
where they made their headquarters.
Mrs. Mary House left Friday for
Pendleton where she will spend the
Christmas holidays with her sister,
Mrs. L. W. Copeland. Her son Jack
House expects to spend Christmas
day with them in Pendleton.
Mrs. David Mittlesdorf who has
been In Portland since Thanksgiving
receiving treatments for an infected
hand, returned Thursday of this
week. The condition of her hand
is much improved but she is still
unable to use it.
Frank Chandler who has been
employed at the Ralph Richards
ranch for some time, left Friday
evening for his home in Indiana
where he will spend the Christmas
holidays with his mother. He does
not expect to return until May of
next year.
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Quiring and
Mrs. Quiring’s sister, Miss Manu
Neufeldt of Dallas, Ore., who has
been her house guest for a week, left
Thursday night for The Dalles where
they will visit relatives before go
ing on to Dallas to spend the Christ
mas holidays.

A. Sawyer and Mrs. Sawyer left Sat
urday for Corvallis where Mr. Saw
yer spent the week attending the
state county agents' conference.
They expected to motor to Eirby,
Ore., to visit Mr. Sawyer’s parents
over the Christmas holidays.

tored to Pendleton Tuesday night
to attend the regular meeting of the
Pendleton order, and witness the
initiatory degree work. They inclu

Dr. and Mrs. A. W. Christopher
son will spend the holidays with
relatives in Portland. Dr. Christoph
erson expects to return New Year’s
day.
Mrs. Sadie W’ood, who is employed
at Jack's Cafe, left Tuesday on a
week's vacation which she will
spend at Irrigon with relatives. Mrs.
Bob Beebe of Stanfield is taking her
place in the cafe.
Wm. Gragan arrived last week
from Washington state and Is the
house guest of his sister and broth
er-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald
White.
Hunter's Cafe and Jack's Cafe
will be closed on Christmas day, ac
cording to information released to-
day. The Hermiston Hotel dining
room will be open to the public.
G. T. McGilery of Portland was
the house guest of Mrs. H. J. Bels-
camper three days this week. He
owns property in the Columbia dis
trict.
J. S. Burnham motored to Pasco,
Wn., Wednesday where he met his
daughter, Miss Marjorie who came
home to spend the Christmas holi
days. She is a student at the El
lensburg Normal.

ma. They had expected to leave
Friday but Mrs. Pearson fractured
her wrist.
Mr. and Mrs. B. S. Kingsley and
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Shaar entertained
at a seven o’clock dinner Monday
night at the latter's home. The
Christmas motif was used in decor
ations and favors. Covers were laid
for twenty-eight guests. Later in
the evening briidge was played with
high honors for the ladies going to
Mrs. C. M. Jackson and high honors
for the men by Ralph Richards.
Mrs. Jens Skovbo entertained at
a dinner party last Friday night
complimenting her daughter Marie.
Covers were laid for the Misses Mar
garet and Esther McMullen, Lois
White, Edna Turnblad, Vera Sisson,
Nina Rae McCulley, Dorothy Knerr,
Margaret Clarke and the honoree.
The latter part of the evening was
spent enjoying games and music.
