The present County Court is ena
bled to dispense with the services of
a County Roadmaster and Engineer,
thereby saving to the county thou
sands of dollars, to a great extent
through my knowledge of the 3500
miles of county roads and 1900
bridges and culverts, and a thorough
knowledge of the county road build
ing machinery and maintenance
equipment. Umatilla county has at
this time over 300 miles of improved
county roads, all of which I have
had a part in building.
