rived from Enterprise, Ore., last
week and are clearing land pur­
chased from the Westland Irriga­
tion District on the west side of the
river. Mr. Thornburg and his fam­
ily are living tn a tent until they
can build a house.

Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Jarmon, Mrs
O. F. Thomson, Miss Cecelia Bren
nan, all of Pine City, and Roy Jar-
mon of Portland, were in Hermiston
Sunday enroute to Pendleton, Wal-
Walla, and return by the Wallu-
la cut-off highway.
Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Douglas who
have been living in Pilot Rock for
the past year, returned to their
home here this week. Mr. and Mrs.
Henry Harger who have been living
in their residence southeast of town,
have moved across the road into the
Campbell house.
Mrs. Phoebe Palmer left early
unday morning for Yoncalla, Ore.,
where she will spend at least two
months looking after her ranch
there. Mrs. Palmer has been mak­
ing her home with her daughter,
Mrs. Guy Amsberry, here for several
months.
Dr. J. P. Stewart, Eye-Sight Spe­
cialist of Pendleton will be at the
Hermiston Hotel on Wednesday,
April 18th. Hours 1:00 to 5:30

Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Pierson re-
turned from a week’s visit in Seattle
and other coast points, in company
with their son, W. M. Pierson, who
is pastor of the Methodist church at
ledmond. Ore., and who attended
in inventor’s conference in Seattle
ast week. Mr. Pierson has inven­
ted a new airplane hangar which he
presented at this conference.
Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Dowell, former
termistön residents, who have been
making their home An Marshfield
for the past three years, returned to
Hermiston last week and will make
their home here for the summer. Mr.
Jowell will serve as supply minister

Two lovely dessert bridge lun-
heons were given at the home of
Mrs. W. M. Pearson Thursday and
Friday of last week with Mrs. Geo.
Briggs, Mrs. A. E. Bensel and Mrs.
Pearson acting as joint hostesses.
The rooms were fragrant with apple
blossoms and each table was cen-
ered with an old-fashioned nose-
ay, made from spring flowers. On
Thursday high honors were won by
Mrs. Wm. Shaar, cut prize by Mrs.
Carl Bensel, and consolation by
Mrs. Logan Todd, High honors on

Parr were the honor guests at a
miscellaneous shower Monday after-
noon at a no-hostess party in the
Geo. Story home. David Parr is six
months old and received many lovely

river last Saturday. Most of them
were small but one had five rattles.
Two of the reptiles which were cap­
tured alive were on display in Burn­
ham's window the first of the week
in a fruit jar.

tertained at dinner Sunday evening
at their home on Butter Creek. Cov­

Mrs. F. C. McKenzie, Mr. and Mrs.
Wm. Shaar, Dr. and Mrs. W. L. Mor­
gan, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Richards,
and Mr. and Mrs. Cleve Clark.
Dr. and Mrs. A. W. Christopher­
son motored to The Dalles Tuesday
where they enjoyed playing eigh­
teen holes of golf. Dr. Christopher­
son later visited the tuberculosis
hospital to check the tuberculin
tests made recently in the Irrigon
schools. The American Legion Aux-
Illary sponsors these tests over the
state.
