ing taken and should be given the
opportunity to discuss It. The local
club was unable to sign up with the
association becaure of this differ
ence and disregard of one clause in
the constitution, which had been
drawn up previously and presented
to the Hermiston club members at
the time the proposed organization
plan was presented.
A commercial club in any commu-
nity is organized for the purpose of
furthering developments in
that
locality. If an association is to be
formed of these different groups,
each working for its own advance
ment, only by an unanimous con
sent of all groups should any sub
ject matter be acted upon. The con
stitution permits thre representa
tives from each club to make up
the board of directors, and by add
ing the clause, it would simply mean
that at least one member from any
club represented could vote “by
proxy” for the other two, voicing the
wish of the club membership.
In order to have a successful or-
g nization with the general inter
est of each community as a goal, no
development should be started with
out the unanimous consent of each
club with representatives at each
executive meeting.
The request
made by the Hermiston commercial
club then should not be termed ‘‘un-
reasonable.”
