The night show, Happy Canyon,
graphically tells in pantomine what
transpired when the first man drove
his struggling oxen over the crest
of the hills onto the sloping plains
of eastern Oregon. ' It pictures the
struggle of the whites and the red
men and later the typical cowtown
that boomed as a rendezvous for
the cowboys on payday with its
comic and tragic events strangely
interwoven.
RADIO KOAC ANNOUNCES
NEW HOMEMAKER PROGRAM
"Homemakers’ Thrift Hour,
is the latest feature arranged par-
ticularly for housewives, which has
already been started over the state
college radio station, KOAC. This
is a daily feature given from 2 to 3
o’clock except Saturday when it is
given from 9:30 to 10:30 o’clock in
the forenoon.
This hour is being conducted by
Mrs. Mary Little Thomas, graduate
of the college and former home dem
onstration agent in California, now
on the staff part time and doing
graduate work in home economics at
Oregon State. She was on of the
first to broadcast home economics
material over the college station be-
fore going to California.
Methods of food preservation such
as canning, drying, salting, curing,
storage and jam and jelly making will
be included in the scope of the ma
terial to be given. She will also dis
cuss planning and preparation of
low cost meals, short cuts in house
work, planting and care of fall gar
dens. and field reports of emergency
relief work being carried on in the
state.
This program, in fact, is closely
allied with the work of the food
committee of the state relief coun
cil and is designed to further the
work of the committee, though it is
broad enough in scope to interest
all homemakers, believe those in
charge.
Other members of the college staff
will appear from time to time on
this hour under Mrs. Thomas’ di
rection. The topics will be kept
timely as the season advances.
