CERISTIAN SCIENCE CHURCHES
44 A dam and Fallen Man” was the
subject of the Lesson-Sermon
in all Churches of Christ, Scientist,
on Sunday, May 8.
The Golden Text was, “Man that
is born of a woman is of few days,
and full of trouble. He eometh
forth like a flower, and is cut down:
he fleeth also as a shadow, and
continueth not” (Job. 14:1, 2).
Among the citations which com
prised the Lesson-Sermon was the
following from the Bible: “And
God said, Let U3 n-.akc man in our
image, a fter our likeness: and let
them have dominion . . . So God
created man in his own image, in
the imago of God created he him”
(Gen. 1:26, 27).
The Lesson-Sermon also included
the following passages from the
C hristian Science textbook, “Sci
ence and H ealth with Key to the
S criptures”, by Mary Baker Eddy:
“Man is not m atter; he is not made
up of brain, blood, bones, and other
m aterial elem ents. The Scriptures
inform us that man is made in the
im age and likeness of God. M atter
is not that likeness. The likeness
of Spirit cannot be so unlike Spirit.
Man is spiritual and perfect; and
because he is spiritual and perfect,
he m ust be so understood in Chris
tian Science” (p.475).
