expected to be, as usual, th e price

early ranges.
W hile some new crop lam bs from
W illam ette valley flocks have alre a ­
dy gone to m ark et, lam bing in the
range bands of e a ste rn O regon is
ju s t
weli u n d er w ay. In valley
flocks the lam b crop was heavy, but
in th e bands of ea ste rn and so u th ­
ern Oregon, considerable loss of old
ewes occurred an d m ore th a n nor­
mal loss of lam bs due to poor condi­
tion of ewes follow ing a severe w in­
te r on poor q u a lity feed.
In D ouglas co u n ty w here early
m ark et lam bs a re a featu re, sheep
cam e th ro u g h th e w in ter jn fair
shape despite lim ited feed, an d are
now m aking good progress on b e tte r
th a n norm al g rass. The lam b crop
is sh o rte r th an in recen t years on ac­
count of u n fav o rab le w eath er in
J a n u a ry when tlie heavy lam b drop
occurred. W ith creep feeding more
common th is y ear, iam bs have made
good grow th and some alread y
