Wltlr the nomination of George W.
Joseph, Republican candidate for
goverpor, more than 5o per cent of
the registered Republican voters of
the state cast ballots, which is a
heavy vote for a primary election.
There has been plenty of Oh’s and
Ah’s ovct the outcome, but with Mr.
Joseph’s open campaign “For Oregon
it’s people, their welfare and pros
perity," it must be admitted that the
people of this state voted heir own
mind.
It is all right— perhaps the defeat
ed candidates will be elected vice-
president of something or another
some'day.

Grounds to be an Asset
«l.o«
Successful tucn keep themselves
under their own thumbs. They keep
their problems on the operating table
until some Intelligent disposition is
made of them. Unsuccessful men
sloeh around hi a soup of fear, in
decision, nerves. Their problems get
them down and hammer the day
lights out of them.
Successful men, while they're on
the make, treat themselves like dogs,
so to speak. The unsuccessful, in
the process of unmaking themselves,
suck the soothing syrup of self-pity
and act like a lot of sick cubs. One
mail-keeps his brains and his emo-
tloonj.tMparated; another's emotions
keep slopnltfg over and spoiling his
brain? work.
With rare exceptions, success snd
failure come from the inside, not the
outside.
