m iles n o rth of L a G rande. In ad ­
d itio n he secured a lease on 185
acres w hich H en rik sen Bros, have
been o p e ra tin g as a p a rt of th e ir
fa rm in g business.
In ad d itio n to th e land th e farm
in g o u tfits and livestock on th e tw o
places w ere Included in th e trad e.
T he S ta r r lock of sheep w as tak en
over by the new ow ners, and th ey
w ill buy a n o th e r 500 head of ewes to
en larg e th e flock.
T he term s of th e deal call for Im ­
m ediate possession to be given, and
th e tw o fam ilies w ill s ta r t m oving
w ith in a few days.

president of the Cuban republic, de­
clared th a t it was not w ithin the prov­
ince of the Pan-A m erican conference
to assum e the role of a tribunal to

general policy of the U nited S tates

rights. It would be dangerous, he said,
to establish such a precedent.

trin e as representing the noble action

ance. The Monroe doctrine was, and
ought to rem ain the common defensive
