was "The Coach," Mr. Walenta’s was
"The Team," and Lester Carson’s was
"The Girls.” Ruth Bensel spoke
about “The Boys.”
The lnterclasslc debates will begin
December 16. All of the classes aer
looking forward to be the winners.
The annual high school basket ball
practice will start Tuesday evening.
The bosket ball shack has recently
been repaired and showers Installed.
The public speaking departmment
have been handicapped by lack of
books and material for interpretation.
This year they have decided to give
a public paid performance, the objec
of which will be to get money to buy
books and material for the depart
ment. The program will also show
the work the department ig doing.
Plans are being made and the pro
gram will be put on some time in
January.
A school Is commonly thought of
as a quiet building In which students
are at work. No one need be alarm
ed when they pass near our Bchool
building and watch It swell with
the songs of our happy glee club
students. There is a reason for this
change from quietness to much sing
ing which the hard working music
teacher would tell you if you asked.
To save you the trip to the teacher
and to save her the bother, I will
tell you the cause of this singing.
A vaudeville is going to be presented
by the high, school on December 16.
So, when you hear singing in the
high school you know a vaudeville
or an operetta is coming.
The seventh grade Is giving a small
play for their father’s and mother’s
on Friday afternoon, December 2.
The first grade Is going to give a
small pageant at the Parent Teacher
association, Thursday afternoon, Dec.
8.
Selections are being ordered for
contestants In the declamatory con
test and work will be started on
them as soon as everyone has ob
tained his selection. Each contest
ant will be given the same amount
of coaching. So far 23 pupils have
enrolled for the contest but It Is ex
pected that ther will be many more.
The vaudeville that the high school
will put on December 16 will be the
work of about fifty students. There
will be almost every kind of comedy
and a great variety of songs. There
will be scenes from Romeo and Jul
iet, Mr. Gallagher and Mr. Sheen,
a robber scene, and many other com
edies. The students are singing
some of the latest song hits with
much success. Be Bure to come and
have a laugh that will brighten you
up.
