A few days ago while in a Pen
dleton hotel we overheard a con
versation between two men who
were sitting in the lobby. One of
them was a salesman and was
complaining to his friend about
having to make a trip into the
"sticks,” naming a nearby town.
He was one of those fellows
who does not hate himself one
bit and is w illing to admit it. He
wore about a number 4 hat and
a size 12 shoe. I t was disgusting
to sit and listen to the complaints
registered concerning the lack of
accomodations he had to put up
w ith while on his trips to the
towns in the "sticks.” I t would
have been a safe bet, even i f you
had to give odds, that his brains
j wouldn’t have been a load for an
