SOME HARO FACTS ABOUT SOR MONEY By JOHN OAKWOOD When a farmer takes hit product to m arket and sells it tor, aay, a dol iar a bushel, he la dependent upon the honesty of two m easures—the dollar and the bushel. The other day a crossroads store keeper got sen t to Jail for manipu lating a trick bushel basket with a false bottom that would slide up and down in a way that was grand, gloomy and m ysterious. W hen using it to m easure stuff he bought from a farm er, he’d secretly shove the bottom down until It held at least a bushel and a quarter, but he would only credit him with a bushel. Here is about the way it would work out Suppose, when the farmer brought his product to market, tha basket m easure wag hon est enough and he got a dollar bill for each bushel. H e’d take his dollars home and save them. Perhaps he planned to buy som e land next his own for a thousand dollars, and figured that in a year or so he could make i t s s s I WISH TO ANNOUNCE TO THE PUBLIC V in e y a r d lodge n o . sm .
