Gardner Sullivan the dea for the theme and plot of "Hail- pins,” the latest Ince-Paramount-Art- craft photoplay starring Enid Ben- lett, which will be shown at the Play House next Wednesday. The dinner at which Mr. Sullivan was a guest, was being served by waitresses. During the progress of l he meal a hairpin drooped from the bead of one of the young women on- 'o the table. She carelessly picked t up, muttered an apology and re- •laced it In her hair. But Mr. Sullivan had hiB idea. He egan to wonder what sort of wife his woman would make to some man. 'Ie wondered if he, as the husband ■f a woman so careless and untidy, vould be contented. For several 'ays he pondered. And then he set o work on his story, and “Hairpins” me of the most appealing stories Mr. ■ulHvnn has ever written, was the esult. “Hairpins” is a story of an old- ashioned wife, who, through her allure to keep up her personal ap- •earance, failed to hold the interest f her husband. When she realizes ier mistake she sets about to live iffercntly. Fred Nibo directed Hairpins” under the personal sup- rvislon of Thomas II. Ince, George lames was cameraman.
