HERMISTON
HERALD,
PRUNING DEMONSTRATIONS
PLANNED BY COUNTY PRO
JECT LEADER. SPECIALIST
“The injury following the severe
low temperatures of last winter has
rather up-set the pruning dope
among the fruit growers and while
we never could agree on the correct
methods of pruning trees, fruit grow
ers have more divergent ideas than
ever now." said J. F. Slover, county
project leader of horticulture to C.
L. Long, extension specialist, ou a
recent visit to the Freewater district.
"What we would like to have." con
tinued Mr. Slover, “is some pruning
demonstration work before the prun
ing season begins this winter." Ac
cordingly Mr. Long suggested that a
two day pruning school he held at
Freewater in some orchard at which
the extension specialist could prune
a number of trees according to his
ideas and let a number of the best
fruit growers prune a few wtrees ac
cording to their own viewpoint, mark
these threes and see what the fruit
yield will be on these trees in sub-
sequent years. This suggestion met
with hearty accord from the County
Project Leader and tentative ar
rangements were concluded for the
holding of such a school early in De
cember.
In order to give the west end of
the county the benefit of the same
work it is proposed to held one day
school at Stanfield and Hermiston
This will meet with hearty support
n the part of the west end fruit
growers w ho feel that they have been
somewhat neglected during the past.

Is your hay for sale? We buy and
sell baled alfalfa hay in car lots.
We have storage room for baled
hay in any quantity, until the ware

per month, or part of month.
At present we have some unallot-
ed space. Parties storing hay with
