The revival meetings at the Bap­
tist church are in progress. Marshall
Louis Mertins, one of the lecturers
on our Chautauqua last fall, is the
leader. He is preaching every night
I and every afternoon.
Saturday night he will speak to
old people, his subject being "When
Daylight Fades to Night."
There
will be four different services Sun­
day. At 11 a. m. the subject will
I be "And »Another Book.” Two af
ternoon meetings will be held. At
2:30 all the men will meet at the
church and the evangelist will speak
to them on “Beating Back.” At 3:30
in the church basement Rev. Mer-
tins will address the women and
girls on ‘‘The Choosing of a Father."
Sunday night the sermon will be
"Play Ball.” The meetings will
continue the following week, prob
ably closing Sunday, the 22nd, 01
a few days thereafter. Meetings
every afternoon at 3 and every night
at 7:30, to which the public is cor­
dially invited.

The House warming, planned foi
St. Valentine’s Day by the Ladies i
Homo Bureau, is to take place next
Saturday, Feb. 21, at the school
house.
There is to be a splendid
program, beginning at 1:30, after
which a hot luncheon will be served
from the new kitchen. As the clos­
ing feature the guests will be taker
on a tour of the school house and
grounds, also the kitchen. The Bur­
eau cordially Invites the Hermiston
people, and special invitations have
been extended to the school board
of the Hermiston schools and to the
editor of the Hermiston Herald to
attend.
Miss Ina Bullock, who has been
visiting her sister here, was called
home Thursday by the illness of her
mother in Pendeton.
Mrs. Alice Nugent has been suf-
ferring from a nervous breakdown
the last week.
Mr. and Mrs. A. E. McFarland
wert Hermiston visitors Thursday.
The Ladies’ Home Bureau gave a
party Thursday night in honor of
Mrs. Fred W. McCune, who is leav­
ing for Portland shortly. Dancing
was enjoyed by the young people
and all had a splendid time. A large
crowd attended, showng how well
the lady was liked.
Her absence
will be felt deeply, as she was an
active member of the Ladies’ Home
Bureau.
