Mrs. Robert Booth returned to her
home in Seattle Tuesday after an
enjoyable visit since Thanksgiving
at the home of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. J. I. Agnew, west of town.

this week. Illness has been the
cause, but latest reports are that he
will be on the job shortly.
The members of Reclamation
Lodge No. 107, K. of P., to the num-
ber of about 20 will go Monday to
Pendleton to attend the district
convention of the order scheduled

Betty, the little daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. J. Ralph, was severely
scalded Tuesday afternoon by acci
dentally falling backwards Into a
pail of hot water. First aid prompt
ly administered by lier mother was

ious consequences Io the child, who,
under the skillful treatment of the
attending physician, is now getting
along nicely.
On account of the severe cold and
fuel shortage there were no services
last Sunday at the Methodist church.
Dr. Pemberton did not come, but he
will speak at Columbia school house
at 3 p. m. and in Mack's hall at 8
p. m. next Sunday. Other meetings
at the usual hours, and at 11 a. m.
a short Christmas program and ap
propriate sermon will be given and
treat for the Sunday school pupils.
The White Gifts offering will go to
the Armenian relief, and it is a good
time to make a liberal offering for
this very worthy cause.

happy hunting grounds by the thou
sands after partaking of the alfalfa
and strychnine mixture.
Just to show how the poison Is
working havoc among the jacks we
cite a statement by Jesse Prindle,
who said that in Section 33, near
Lake Lane, which was virtually
alive with the pest, approximately
2000 were killed from three and a
half sacks of the poison mixture
spread over part of that area near
