It’s The Truth
Grand larceny is committed by
the Oregonian on those days when
it robs its readers of their refreshing
morning contact with Paw Perkins.
Maw Perkins. Ashur Uri Perkins.
Neewah, Polly and the rest of the
family pals, says the Oregon Voter.
Omission of the Polly cartoons has
been somewhat frequent of late, and
has driven us to the necessity of
making purchases of Spokane and
eastern newspapers which are more
faithful to the rights of their read
ers in that they publish the Polly
series of cartoons with neverfailing
regularity. The Oregonian should
awaken to the fact that its news
service and the dignity of its able
insufficient to
editorial page
console the reader who turns to the
want ad section and fails to find his
favorite comice He feels outraged,
disgusted, and his breakfast is spoil
ed. If readers have rights that a
newspaper is bound to respect, the
Oregonian should not trifle with
them. The pang of losing Tige Rey
nolds was severe enough without the
added aggravation of missing the
Perkins family from its accustomed
place at the breakfast table.
Banks Serve Communities
“One of the net products of the
war was the demonstration that
banks are the strongest factor in
community service. In most cases
the hanks became the headquarters
tn the Liberty Loan drives and met
the increased demand generously. In
nearly every city when called upon
they put in additional desks and
hired increased force to do the work
necessary. The bank is the key-
stone in the arch of community ser-
vice and is the strongest asset for
community spirit. Banks are ex
tending the community service idea
to the country and are leading and
specializing to produce prosperty.
Many differences between capital
and labor are smoothed away by a
better understanding of all factors
of the problem. So the old idea of a
bank being in anyway hostile tn the
interests of the producer Is being
changed Into mutual helpfulness.
There is no reason why there should
not he the fullest co-operation be
tween any honest, well-meaning cit
izen and the local bank.’—Dallas
Itemizer.
