Mrs. McKenzie and Mrs. Corn­
field were in Hermiston the latter
part of the week.
Mrs. Wightman, who has been
j seriously ill for some time, passed
away Tuesday. The remains were
shipped to McMinville for burial.
Elmer Chappelle, who has been
over seas in the service for Uncle
Sam, returned home the fore part of
the week.
D. C. Chapman and family were in
Stanfield Wednesday.
Mrs. Earl Bronell and Mrs. Com­
pton spent Thursday last with Mrs.
W. J. Dobler.
T. C. Simons, who has just re­
turned from France passed through
here on his way to Pendleton, Lat­
er he will visit with friends and re­
latives on Butter Creek for a few
days and will then resume his old
work here on the Repair track. Mr.
Simons was seriously wounded the
day before the armistice was signed
and for some time his life was
thought to be ebbing away.
P. C. McNurlen is building an ad­
dition on the south side of his new
bungalow.
E. M. McKenzie left Thursday
night on a business trip to Portland.
Mr. and Mrs. Easton Moore are
visiting in Umatilla. Mx. Moore is
a very prominent farmer on Butter
Creek.
Clarence Atchinson, Hugh Barke-
ly and Mrs. Tillison were business
visitors to Hermiston Thursday.
Mr. Chapel is repairing and furn­
ishing his new home on the Colum­
bia. He resumed his old job switch­
ing on the O. W. R. R. & N. Thurs­
day.
