NEW LAWS WILL
SOON BE IN EFFECT
The following resume of laws pass
ed by the legislature of 1919 that are
of local interest has been compiled
by Representative Dodd for readers
of The Herald:
Hereafter it will be a misdemeanor
for anyone to permit dodder to grow
upon their land longer than 60 days
after notice has been served upon
them by any person who desires to
make a complaint through justice or
circuit court. The offender may be
fined or sent to jail.
It is a misdemeanor for anyone to
negligently allow water to run in
roads, and upon complaint the of
fender may be fined 1100 and sent
to jail for 60 days, or whatever
penalty the court may impose.
The herd law of the west end of
Umatilla county has been extended
to include all of the county. It also
includes a section making it a misde
meanor to herd stock upon improved
land of another person without per
mission, and also not to allow stock
of that kind to trespass on any im
proved land or ditches.
School teachers must now give 60
days’ notice prior to the beginning of
school year before they can break
